Ruben Dario Bustos Torres

Rubén Darío Bustos Torres, born in Villa del Rosario, Norte de Santander, is a former professional Colombian footballer, celebrated for his technique, vision on the field, and exceptional free-kick abilities. He made his professional debut on September 12, 1998, with América de Cali, a club where he achieved his first major sporting successes.

Trained at the Escuela de Formación Deportiva Quinta Oriental in Cúcuta, Rubén built a solid career with top clubs such as Cúcuta Deportivo, Real Cartagena, Millonarios FC, Atlético Nacional, Gremio (Brazil), Internacional de Porto Alegre, and Boyacá Chicó. With América de Cali, he won three consecutive Colombian league titles (2000–2002) and international titles like the Copa Merconorte (1999). In 2008, he became Campeonato Gaúcho champion with Internacional.

In 2007, he was named Athlete of the Year by El Espectador and ACORD Norte de Santander due to his stellar national and international performances. On the international stage, he represented Colombia in tournaments including the U-19 Telefónica Cup (2000), South American U-20 (2001), Toulon Tournament (2001), U-23 Pre-Olympic (2003), CONCACAF Gold Cup (2003), and the 2010 World Cup Qualifiers. He also competed in five editions of the Copa Libertadores.

Now based in the United States, Rubén continues his passion as a youth coach and trainer, sharing his professional expertise with the next generation. Importantly, he is also the person who introduced FutbolTech to La Parada Fútbol Club in Cúcuta, Colombia—one of the key community projects supported by FutbolTech.org.
